This week Nobesity Samoa launched its “Sugar Crush Week” – one of the eight projects funded through U.S. Embassy Apia’s 2016 Public Diplomacy Small Grants scheme. The aim of the partnership between Nobesity Samoa and U.S. Embassy is directed at using approaches and methodologies already used by Nobesity Samoa but at a wider scale. The series of events and activities will highlight the dangers of overeating sugar but also provide healthier alternatives.

Chargé d’Affaires Angelina Wilkinson was present and delivered remarks, in which she reiterated that “We need you to HELP US HELP YOUR CHILD. We strongly feel that all good things start from home. Kids are best nurtured inside the comfort of their homes and around loved ones. We have to set good examples for our children by practicing and showing them good eating habits and staying active through sports activities and/or exercise. We have great influence on what our children eat and healthy eating and staying active go hand-in-hand.” CDA Angelina Wilkinson. The U.S. Funded Sugar Crush week is scheduled to end with a “Sugar Crush Fun Fare,” a fun game day with partners and friends open to all children.
