Dance group, iLuminate, recently visited Samoa as part of the U.S. Department of State -Cultural Envoy Exchange program. iLuminate is a New York performing arts group that combines dance, hip hop, and technology to create a unique blend of science and art.

ILuminate had an amazing day with Sili, Gataivai and Gautavai primary schools in Savaii doing performances and interacting with the children. The dancers communicated through movement and not only did they dance, they also shared a part of their stories which was way more than the audiences expected.

After a great day of programming in Savaii, ILuminate then brought the art of hip hop to the Main Island, Upolu, and the reception from the  local colleges St Mary’s College, Vaimoso, Robert Louis Stevenson’s and Wesly College was absolutely amazing.

The company was founded by Miral Kotb, a dancer and software engineer who combined her two passions with explosive performance that blends state of the arts programming, lighting technology, and dance.
