Message for U.S. Citizens – Samoa lockdown extended due to COVID-19

UPDATE: 01/28/22: The Government of Samoa announced that the country will move to COVID-19 Level 2 effective at 18:00 local time on Friday, January 28.   Under Level 2, government offices and businesses will be allowed to reopen.  All persons must wear a mask while in public and carry proof of vaccination.  Gatherings of more than 30 people are prohibited.  Children under the age of 12 are not permitted in public while the country is in Level 2 and schools are closed until further notice.  There are 27 confirmed active COVID-19 cases.  The government reports no evidence of community transmission.  For detailed information about the Samoan government’s response to COVID-19, visit the Samoa Ministry of Health website and follow the Samoa Government and Samoa’s Ministry of Health on Facebook.

The U.S. Embassy in Apia will reopen on Monday, January 31.  The Embassy reached out to U.S. citizens and visa applicants to reschedule previously cancelled appointments.  If you had a previously scheduled appointment and did not hear from the Embassy, or if you wish to schedule a new appointment, please contact our consular section at ApiaConsular@state.gov.   Information about services and how to schedule an appointment can be found at https://ws.usembassy.gov/.  If you are a U.S. citizen with a life or death emergency that requires a consular service, please contact the number listed below.
